2nd Annual Castle, Home and Garden Contest OOAK (One of a Kind) Auction--Sunday, June 21st 4pm SLT w

Builders have been working for months on their creations-- houses, gardens and castles that tell the story of cancer survivors and those we've lost. You have an unique opportunity to own a build of a hard working Relay for Life champion, a build that will be one of a kind and the only one on the grid. You'll have the opportunity to own their hard work, and the story of a cancer survivor, caregiver or honoree will be behind your build. How wonderful is that? The auctionneer will be Neck Cadaver, a cancer survivor herself. Below are the panels up for bid. Right now you can bid on them up until 3pm Sunday June 21st, and we will start bidding at whatever bid the castle, home or garden is currently on. If you cannot make it, and want to still bid-- contact Rowena Dubrovna and she will put you on a list where someone will IM you and give you live bidding information and you can bid off site!

You can come to the Castle, Home and Garden contest to view all builds. The auction is here:

Short Story: Castle Raven was designed as a medieval castle, built sometime around the eighth century. It has survived through the centuries and into the future. The structure has remain relatively intact, but most of the original building materials have been replaced, covered or re-inforced with stronger, modern metal materials. It is said to even make use of some alien materials.

Team Name: General

Size:1/4 sim

PANEL THREE

Builder Name: Bella1 Abbot

Team Name: Bonanza Country

Size: about 1/4 sim

Prim Count:576

Short Story:I relay for many reasons personal and for friends and family that have either lost there fight or still fighting or who have survived i started being in RFL in 2011 with vickie maddison as my coach not even knowing what i was doing she guided me threw and to this day is still my mentor and one of the reason i relay. building this castle showed me that all things are possible you begin and you keep going even when you don't think you can. during this build i had neck surgery and still came home the next day from the hospital and work on the castle i had to finish time was getting close so little by little i went and finally it was finished and ready . it reminded me of the journey with cancer treatments you hear those words cancer. you begin and no matter how you hurt tired sick you still keep going until they are finished. and then you still don't stop because you still have to see it threw until you hear those words you are cleared.

PANEL FOUR

Builder Name: Anhayla Lycia

Team Name: Relay Wizards for Spunky

Size:128x128 (quarter) Prim Count: 788 Short Story: I wanted open, inviting areas with lots of light, so I created a light well in the center. Solar panels and hydroelectric power also contribute to reducing carbon footprint. A garden provides nutritious vegetables with the aim toward eating clean, a factor in reducing cancer risks. But what is a castle with out secrets? Look for the secret entrance to the subterranean "dungeon maze" which has plenty of spaces and hidden places to explore. You may even find a secret or two in the castle as well.

PANEL FIVE

Builder Name: Zaphara Cazalet

Team Name: Team Strange Journeys

Size: a little smaller than 1/4 a sim

Prim Count:1000

Short Story: Hi I am Zaphara Cazalet. I have named the my build Castle Cazalet. It is constructed in the distant future around 2900. There are 4 levels The inhabitents love things from the past, thus the decor is from the past. The outer hull consists of solar coating which powers the castle. From within the castle almost all the rooms you can see out over the area. I built with the idea of peace and tranquility in mind. Free of the ravages of our world, meaning for one that cancer no longer exsists. I Relay for the family members and friends I have lost to cancer and those who continue to battle cancer.

PANEL SIX

Builder Name: Umiko Juriya

Team Name: The Quest for a Cure

Size: 1/8 a sim

Prim Count: 1400

Short Story:I interpreted "The future is now" theme in the form of steampunk. However, any real enthusiast will tell you that steampunk is not just stuff with gears slapped on, but a type of science fiction theme consisting of Victorian or Edwardian era styles with modern technologies that are powered by steam. This is most evident in the Utility Room.

PANEL SEVEN

Builder Name: Azdra Resident

Team Name: United Federation Starfleet

Size: about 1/4 a sim

Prim Count: 879

Short Story:Inspiration is brought by many things and many people. I think the major inspiration for the build is looking at people who I have lost and who fight the "beast". My inspiration is my grandfather, Jim Ray Preston, who lost his battle with Leukemia in 1993. My friend, Alysa Williams, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer is 1999. My "other mom" Tricia Pennington who is still facing cancer. My RL mother who fought her own battle with cancer and survived. Corax says I'm an inspiration since I have just gone through my own battle with breast cancer and have survived it.

PANEL EIGHT

Builder Name: Catalina Staheli/Melodie Jigsaw

Team Name: The Relay Rockers

Size: 1/4 a sim

Prim Count:1865

Short Story:So we built our castle based on this concept, where the stone will protect everyone from harm. Another aspect to the PERN books are dragons. Yes, this is how the author really blended the sci-fi aspect with the fantasy. There are dragons on PERN who are able to be trained to ride and the dragonriders use them to go out and flame the Thread away from the fields, as flame will kill the deadly Thread. Another big consideration we had was that our castle was going to be auctioned off and we wanted to create something that people would actually want to buy and live in. So we took a lot of time and crafted a well-built structure, using mostly mesh, to create something that we ourselves would want to take home with us. The structure is vast, sprawling, able to be a place with several hidden locations as well as structures and points where dragons can land. There are larger rooms for banquets and meeting halls as well as smaller rooms for bedrooms and solariums. All in all, we are thrilled with what we have created and hope you are as well. The Relay Rockers are proud to have been able to participate in the Castle Contest and we truly and sincerely hope you enjoy our castle.

PANEL NINE

Builder Name: Thathy Slade/BruceWayne Resident

Team Name: Foundation for Life

Size:128x128 (quarter) Prim Count: 3000 Short Story: The castle concept is enhancement of quality of life. integrating family, school, work and leisure to good food, execicios, prevention, respect for the environment and its resources, reducing the stress of day-to-day and valuing the social conviviality, we can not only prevent many diseases like until extingui- them, providing a better life for all. Using current concepts in a castle of the future, we believe fit in our project to the topic THE FUTURE IS NOW.

PANEL TEN

Builder Name: MSW Tomorrow

Team Name: Hope Haven Heroes

Size: 1/16th ish

PANEL THIRTEEN

Builder Name: Zannza Resident

Team Name: Too Tough to Die

Size: 1/8 to 1/4

Prim Count: 600

Short Story:The future is now! What a great theme and it has been a challenge. The reason I became a builder for this contest was solely to support the cause. My father and husband both had cancer and my best friend died from cancer. I doubt many can say thier lives have not been affected in some way by cancer. I am happy to be involved in an event like that to help raise awareness. I feel this castle fits the theme the future is now. I was trying to envision something that retained the feel of a castle but with a futuristic flair. The impression I tried to evoke on first seeing the castle was... ohh I want to see inside of this ! I feel it is suited to a number of terrain options and settings. Though one with a future look would be best. Once inside I hoped to make it feel comfortable but still retain the castle and future theme. I have to admit, this is the biggest build I have attempted and the fourth building I have ever done. I hope people feel intrigued, from one area to the next. I placed an elevator system in the build to help with the future theme. As well as some other effects. All in all, I hope you enjoy the tour.

PANEL NINETEEN

Builder Name: Earth Nirvana

Team Name: Tribute City Relayers

Size:8x8 Prim Count: 69 Short Story: Garden Eya in one word is about sustainability. My look into the future is seeing more people growing food in support of their families right in their own yard. Plants are the foundation of all life on Earth and an indispensable resource for well-being. So let's grow more.... Think Green!

PANEL TWENTY

Builder Name: Chipmunk Foxtrot

Team Name: Hope Haven Heroes

Size: 1/8

Prim Count: 400

Short Story: In honor of those who have fallen, in honor of those who have survived!

PANEL TWENTY ONE

Builder Name: Cuddly Waffle

Team Name: Team Strange Journeys

Size:128x128 (Widest point) Prim Count: 80 Short Story: We've all heard the story of how the princess Rapunzel lived in the tower with the witch, who used Rapunzel's long braid of hair to climb up the tower and in through the balcony. We know that Rapunzel eventually defeated the crone, but I like to think that in a futuristic world, she would have done it a little differently than we are told. I envisioned a scenario where she, being as incredibly well-read as she must have been, studied the sciences, engineering and mechanics, and devised a way to transform her prison into a weapon against her captor.

PANEL TWENTY TWO

Builder Name: NextAngel Resident

Team Name: General

Size: a little under 1/4
